Cocktails as you’ve never seen them before.

Every year-end we create a project thanking our clients for their business, but 2014 was special. It marked our 15th year in operation, so this project had to be bigger, better, and more celebratory than ever! We wanted to give our clients something of lasting value.

We decided to create ten unique cocktail recipe videos, providing the definitive recipe for each one. Each member of our team picked their favourite drink, then spent months researching, testing, and refining to come up with the perfect recipe.

With multiple recipes and videos, we thought perhaps we could try a new distribution method. Rather than simply hosting the videos and recipes online, we felt it might be interesting to explore building an app to house the videos and recipes.

This opened up a larger audience via the Apple AppStore, and allowed the visuals to become even more abstracted. Handing off the recipe details to the writing in the app and website, we could take the films even further into the macro aesthetic, focusing on beautiful details.

Building an app came with new challenges, but our experience designing for the web prepared us well for the new platform.

Once the app and website were launched, we wanted to give a tangible, personal invite to our friends and clients. We announced Garnish with a personalized, hand-folded mailer.

Shortly after release our app was featured by iTunes in the Best New Apps; Food and Drink category.

Proving that good taste never goes out of style, nearly a year later our app is featured in the “Happy Hour” section of the iTunes store, and recently crossed five-thousand downloads.
